TYPICAL APPLICATIONS FOR INDIA
Voicemail: If a person is not in his office, you can leave
a "tape recorded" message, which he will hear when he
comes back. This is similar to "answering machine" but
the voice is stored in hard disk using dialogic hardware cards,
which are connected to the customers’ PBX.
Auto PBX (also called auto-attendant): If you
dial a big company instead of the operator picking up you hear recording
saying "thanks for calling xyz Company. Please dial the extension
of the person you want to reach or press 0 for operator"
Email Reader: If you want to hear out your e-mails
over the phone this uses dialogic hardware and the Text to Speech
software.
Interactive music videos: (for example I-TV):
You call up your cable operator number and it will give you a voice
recording saying "to listen Hindi videos press 1, for English
video songs press 2..." and so on. When you press 1 it gives
you menu asking you which particular song you want to play. This
application has been developed using dialogic hardware.
Fax Servers: You can send and receive fax directly
from your desktop to any fax machine in the world. Dialogic Fax
cards help you to build up professional faxing solution for your
customers. Easy routing and forwarding. Route incoming faxes as
email messages to any network user.
Fax on Demand: You call up some company to inquire
about some product and it will give you a voice recording saying
"to know about product abc press 1 and to receive the brochure
for the abc product enter your fax no." Dialogic cards will
automatically send you a fax.
Automated Changes number announcement: When you
dial a number which is changed you get a voice prompt telling "xyz
no. is changed to abc"
Voice messaging: You can send and access voice
mail by just dialing a local no. in Bombay and leave a message for
someone in US who will pick up the message with a local call in
USA. For example Navin mail (navin.com) has been done on dialogic
hardware.
Caller ID Screen Pop Up: When you get a call a
window / box pops up on your monitor "there is a call for you
from Mr. “xyz” you can talk to the person if you wish
or you can forward the same call to someone else. Or let it go to
voicemail.
Phone Banking: You call up your bank and it prompts
you to enter your account no. and after that it gives you a menu
saying, "to check the balance press 1, for bank statement press
2 and if you want the bank statement by fax enter your fax no."
So when you enter your fax no. you receive your bank statement on
your fax machine. If you press 1 you get your bank balance.
Cell phone / Basic phone services: Prepaid card
(SIMs), renewal for the prepaid SIMs, checking of account balance
on SIMs, post paid voucher management system, actual usage of virtual
calling card (for STD / ISD / basic service), voicemail solutions,
call diverting.
Call centers: A call center is a realm where groups
of customer service representatives or operators manage a string
of telephone and computer terminals to make or answer calls. CT
enabled centers that operate on ACD (automatic call distribution)
with a database server hooked to it. When an operator receives a
call, the database server comes to life, and the pertinent data
is displayed on the agents terminal and result is agent is able
to handle the queries more efficiently and quickly. Call centers
can be set up for applications such as customer service, product
information, order processing, billing / account information, reservations,
transactions, technical help desk etc.
IP Telephony and IP Fax: Voice over Internet or
Fax over Internet. Non-real-time fax over Internet is fully legal
in India.
Horoscope, Chat lines, Cricket scores: You can
just dial a no. and it will give you the cricket score also it will
give you the score on ball by ball basis also you can chat with
your friends. This conferencing happens without drop in sound volume;
Or check out your today’s horoscope by just dialing a number.
Media Processing Boards
Voice technology encompasses the processing and manipulating
of an audio signal in a CT system: filtering, analyzing, recording,
digitizing, compressing, storing, expanding, and replaying. It also
includes the ability to receive, recognize, and generate specific
telephone and network tones. This fundamental technology is at the
core of most CT systems.
